We Rock the Spectrum – Cincinnati Open for Private Facility Rentals
September 15, 2020 | In: Gym Owners , News
On September 2nd, We Rock the Spectrum – Cincinnati officially opened its doors! We Rock the Spectrum – Cincinnati will be offering private facility rental sessions, low capacity open play sessions, and respite to children of ALL abilities and their families in the Cincinnati community.
Taylor and Angela Singleton are the new owners of We Rock the Spectrum – Cincinnati. A mother and daughter team, they were inspired to open a new gym when their nephew and grandson was diagnosed with fine motor and sensory-related disabilities in 2015. Taylor works as a Recreation Therapist with kids and teens with disabilities and has experience with using the concept of play for sensory development. Since inclusion is extremely important to both Taylor and Angela, they are eager to bring a space for kids of ALL abilities to the Cincinnati community.
On August 15th, Cincinnati We Rockers were able to get a sneak preview of the gym. They were able to meet Taylor and Angela, visit the Rock Shop stocked with Melissa and Doug products, and get a glimpse into what this brand new sensory gym had in store for them! We Rockers who came by were also able to spin a prize wheel for a chance to win free Open Play passes, WRTS swag, and a free 90-minute private facility rental.
To ensure the safety of their We Rockers, all visitors must pre-book their sessions with We Rock the Spectrum – Cincinnati. All services will be held at low capacities to limit exposure in accordance with Cincinnati city and state guidelines. In addition, all staff and participants will be required to wear masks under Ohio’s mask mandate and follow social distancing guidelines. Throughout the day and in-between sessions, the gym will be cleaned and disinfected by staff members according to EPA and CDC standards.
Thank you to the Cincinnati community for supporting We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym during this unprecedented time! We are so excited to see what the Singletons and their new team have in store for our Cincinnati We Rockers!
These gyms are designed for children on the autism spectrum, using their unique sensory and therapy equipment to help them (and all children) with neurological growth and development.
The myth that everyone is on the autism spectrum stems from a misunderstanding of the term "spectrum." Autism spectrum refers to a range of neurodevelopmental conditions that affect individuals in various ways. However, it does not imply that every person falls somewhere within this spectrum.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave. Although autism can be diagnosed at any age, it is described as a “developmental disorder” because symptoms generally appear in the first 2 years of life.
Dina Kimmel is the CEO and Founder of We Rock the Spectrum, LLC. An autism mom, she is a passionate advocate for children, and has dedicated her life to developing and growing resources for the special needs population. In 2010, she opened the first We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym in Tarzana, California.
